Ideas For Finding An Alternative Wedding Venue In Your Local Area

If you and your fiance don't want a traditional church wedding and the thought of getting married in a park brings back bad memories of boring family reunions you were forced to attend as a child, then you will be pleased to know there are many other options. In fact, some of the best wedding venues are those that are unique and relate in some way to your relationship. By thinking outside of the box, you can host your wedding somewhere friends and family will want to use for years to come.

If you are struggling to find a non-traditional wedding venue in your local area, here are some ideas to aid your search.

Look at Large Barns in Your Area

While barns are still used for storing hay and housing horses, there are many people today who have chosen not to have livestock and instead use their barns to house their classic car collections or as gathering space for their yearly summer party.

If you and your sweetheart met at a rodeo, love country music, or otherwise relate your relationship to a more rustic life, then a barn makes a wonderful venue for your upcoming wedding. If you are having trouble locating a barn that is appropriate for a wedding, ask around at your local feed and grain store, and someone will know who you can contact.

Look for an Amazing Private Garden

If you and your soon-to-be spouse met walking your dogs at a local park, then a beautiful private garden makes for an appropriate and impressive venue. Before thinking about your friends' and familys' landscaping skills and discounting this idea, instead consider gardens of people you don't already know.

People who garden tend to network with others with the same hobby and by asking around you will find out about those people in your area who have the amazing gardens. If nothing else, drive around and see if you can find a place that fits your needs. If you find one, stop and have a chat with the owner. Who wouldn't be flattered their garden looks so great someone wants to get married there?

Look for a Private Beach or Lake Boat Dock?

Finally, if you met your sweetheart on a beach vacation, at a lake, or out in nature somewhere, then look around your area for a lake with boat docks or private beaches. Again, if you find somewhere amazing, then stop and talk to the owners. Even if they aren't willing to let you use their space, they very well may know someone with a similar or better area and hook you up.
